OCT 31, 2011 - The best October in 20 years. The S&P 500 shines in October with the best
monthly gains since 1991. Even with a selloff on the last day of trading the benchmark index
gained nearly 11% for the month. Carmen Roberts reports.

DEC 28, 2010 - The luxury real estate market shows signs of improvement in New York
as the national market continues to struggle. Prices for New York apartments over
$2.5 million are nearly back to the high-flying 2008 levels. Carmen Roberts reports.

Carmen covers all types of market stories with the skills honed during 15 years of business news experience. Whether covering the global credit crisis, Wall Street scandals, the perils of rising crude prices or any other story Carmen puts it all in perspective for investors.

Beyond the world of fast-paced daily news, Carmen has created moving in-depth television programming. As producer-reporter for the hour documentary, A Brave New World, Business Opportunities and Obstacles in Eastern Europe, she led a news crew to Eastern Europe just months after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

After digesting months of research, weeks of interviews and tons of footage, Carmen wrote, voiced, and edited the documentary. It showed how after 40 years of communist control, the people of Eastern Europe declared, "Communism doesn't work; we must start again." Those young democracies were looking to the West for economic and moral support, but what kind of opportunities or obstacles were there?  Would the West be able to pull those crumbling economies into the competitive global market?

Through Carmen's reporting, viewers saw tiny cars rumble over 100-year-old cobblestone streets, watched smokestacks of old factories fill the skies with pollution, and felt the frustration of people who feared losing their jobs in the free marketplace. Yet they also saw the excitement of new entrepreneurs eager to do business with the West, and experienced the spirit of the people who demanded freedom, a better life and a chance to join the rest of the world.

Carmen was a contributing reporter for PBS's Nightly Business Report in Miami.

During her five years of reporting for Suncoast Business Journal, Carmen covered general business news for Tampa Bay and Florida.  Among the countless news stories she covered, Carmen followed breaking business news, such as the arrest of an inside-trader, created in-depth special reports on topics including business in space, and produced profiles of successful business leaders.

She also covered a wide variety of local news stories for Eyewitness News at WTOG-44 in the Tampa Bay area.
